Proteus EcoMeter Plus
The Proteus EcoMeter PLUS is an innovative ultrasonic level sensor and energy consumption monitor that was specially developed for heating oil tanks in the private sector. It is the ideal alternative to mechanical dipsticks and other mechanical devices because it ensures a more accurate measurement of the level. The Proteus EcoMeter PLUS can be used with tanks up to 19,999 liters and three meters high.
Through proven algorithms, the Proteus EcoMeter PLUS not only enables the determination of the amount of liquid remaining in the tank, but also the monitoring of costs, consumption and even carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
An additional cable with a length of approx. nine meters between the sensor and the radio module enables the sensor to be installed in underground tanks, shaft openings or radio-free areas that are difficult to access, such as thick walls or heavy lids.
This means: The Proteus EcoMeter PLUS is able to establish a stable connection between the sensor and the surveillance monitor at depths of more than 20 centimetres. And that even in places sealed with thick metal or concrete covers - a big plus that other level indicators can't afford.
Benefits at a glance
- Accuracy up to 10 times higher than comparable measuring systems ( /- 1 cm) Range up to 150 meters under reference conditions No specialist knowledge required for installation and commissioning Wireless data transmission, no cable required Measuring range up to 3 meters (maximum ultrasonic signal range) Can be used in all standard oil tanks be used, regardless of the manufacturer or the material from which it is made. The sensor is suitable for outdoor use, splash-proofThe service life of a sensor battery is 2-3 years
Practical tips and experiences of the last 10 years:
- It should be checked before ordering whether there is a suitable opening on the tank. If you are unsure, you are welcome to send us pictures of your surroundings via email to info@proteus-meter.eu. We are happy to examine them and can give you valuable tips.
Click on "Tank openings" for more information.
- Our devices are in stock, so we usually ship within 24 hours with DHL.

- Upon receipt of the goods, you should read the enclosed instruction manual carefully. If you have any questions, please contact us via email at info@proteus-meter.eu
- Remove the protective film on the Ecomonitor so that you do not see 1750l as the volume.
- Enter your tank parameters step by step to create the basis for the volume calculation. Depending on the tank size, deviations in the max. fill level or offset can lead to several hundred liters of heating oil, which are usually less displayed. Find out more about the information on the max. fill level, offset and bottom dead space volume (0% mark).
- When coupling / pairing the sensor with the Ecomonitor, a digital key is transferred so that your sensor is already recognized by your Ecomonitor during radio reception. It is thus possible to operate several devices in parallel without any problems, which cannot influence each other.
The pairing process has nothing to do with the volume calculation settings. Once correctly paired (see also YouTube videos), the Ecomonitor retains the identifier until the battery is changed. After changing the battery (usually after 3-5 years), the sensor should be paired with the Ecomonitor again.
- On the back of the Ecomonitor there are explanations in English regarding the error messages that can be seen on the Ecomonitor. Typical error messages are:
E:01 - Distance measurement fluctuates beyond the empirical value of /-2-3cm. This can be observed especially at the beginning after the sensor has been activated and measures different distances. The error usually appears in the first few hours after installing the sensor on the tank.
E:02 - the Ecomonitor has not received any radio signals from the sensor for 6 hours. This can have different causes. For example, the sensor is installed too deep or too far away from the Ecomonitor. Metal covers, concrete walls, special glass or masonry walls can weaken radio waves so that the Ecomonitor cannot receive anything. After 2-3 years, the battery could weaken so that there is not enough energy available for the radio.
E:03 - The sensor cannot determine a valid measurement distance. Often the problem lies in the assembly conditions, so we need pictures of these in order to be able to help you. After several years, it may also be that the battery in the sensor is too weak.
E:04 - The sensor measures a distance greater than set in setup 5. Please check the tank configuration.
E:06 - means a system error. This can very often be remedied by a soft reset. Simply hold down the setup button until the Ecomonitor restarts. Then the error E:06 should be gone.
